SINGAPORE: Singaporean men make good dates, according to 200 singles surveyed by the Social Development Service last December.
According to the poll, 96 percent of the men said they wanted to see their girlfriends more than once a week, while 94 percent of the respondents would send their dates home.
92 percent of them would pay for dating expenses and 88 percent would even open car doors and restaurant doors for their dates.
Seven out of ten of the male respondents would even carry their girlfriends' handbags.
But it is a different picture once they get married. Most married couples said there is nothing special about Valentine's Day.
Nonetheless, there are some exceptions.
"We will go out and have dinner with my family. I have a small baby, 8 months old, so this is our new style of celebration this year," a lady said.
To rekindle the romance, experts said couples should get creative and personalise their gifts.
