MICHAEL BOLTON lyrics - That's What Love Is All About There was a time We thought our dream was over When you and I Had surely reached the end Still here we are The flame as strong as ever All because we both kept holding on We know we can weather any storm
[Chorus:] Baby, that's what love is all about Two hearts that find a way, somehow To keep the fire burning It's something we could never live without It it takes forever We can work it out Beyond a shadow of a doubt Baby, that's what love is all about
As time goes by We've learned to rediscover The reason why This dream of our survives Through thick and thin We're destined for each other Knowing we can reach the other side Far beyond the mountains of our pride
[Chorus]
Ridin' the good times is easy The hard times can tear you apart There'll be times in your heart When the feelin' is gone But ya keep on believing And ya keep holdin' on

by the way,
today's paper was great. i feel like i'm Da Vinci. (: finding a substitution cipher to encrypt and decrypt messages. this is so cool. let's try it out.
first, let me explain wad is a substitution cipher - every occurrence of a given letter is replaced systematically by another letter.
eg. using sub cipher of "letter plus two", decrypt HELLO. ans: JGNNQ
SO, the question is like that.
QUESTION: Find a sub cipher such that you can use exactly the SAME cipher to encrypt and decrypt messages. In other words,
Message: "I love you" ---apply cipher----> ciphered text
ciphered text ----apply same cipher------->Message: "I love you"
demonstrate the cipher on the message. (:
OKAYS, maybe its easy lar, if so, then i am stupid. CUZ i really spent quite some time thinking of this. AND AND AND! while i was doing, i kept laughing to myself cuz i really feel like da vinci. HAHAHA. and prof tan saw me laughing. DAMN. (:

my mum and dad never attempt those(point below) to me or my brother. maybe they are kinda conservative. so hugging, pecking on the cheeks or simply a word of 'i love you' are not common to them, or maybe i should say they regard these as foreign displays of affection. but that doesn't mean they don't love me and my brother. i know clearly and deeply that they love me more than they love themselves, from the fact that they slogged so hard just to earn the bucks for our education and our well being. the ability to have a desktop, one laptop each for me and my bro, the wireless network, the phone and the monthly bills, the nutritious meals every dae and DUH, this lovely and comfortable home, all these are what dad and mum give us. there are kids who asked for more, but i don't, simply because i know they've given me the best - their love and concern which they don't ask for in return.
mum knows i love to eat porridge. and i know she needs to rush to work every morning, certain mornings rushing off without breakfast. and knowing i've a paper in the afternoon and that i won't go down to buy breakfast, she woke up at 430am to prepare porridge for me. (see the smiles on my face now) and when i came back from exams today, i was seriously hungry, and it was raining like DAMN HEAVILY. but mummy forsake her favourite tv show and went to buy food for me, returned home drenched. She leaves the best food for me and my brother. food that is going to be expired she will finish them up instead. no matter how tired she gets after work, she will make sure she irons our clothes, so that me and my brother go out neatly worn.
dad went overseas to work for almost a week already. Maybe i've grown up. i used to not think of him whenever he went overseas (especially his safety since he works on board) when i was young. so whenever he returned back, i just looked forward to whatever small gifts he bought back. But recently, before i headed on to bed, i feel kinda worried for his safety. what if smth happened to him over there. all these thoughts came across my mind while i have my daily prayers before bed. and, todae before dinner, he called back (the smiles on my face), asking me to the phone, he asked about me, my exams, and reminded me to slp early and not to make mum angry. i don't deny that i have few topics to talk to my dad whenever hes home. maybe because since young he has been out of house working and we don't really have much time to spend with him.
my dear brother. no matter how heated our arguments are, i know he cares for me. and he knows it best too, that i care for him. just a 'eh, good luck for your paper' from him to me this morning makes me smile.
i love these 3 people in my life. they're the protagonists in this life story of mine. without them, there won't have any meaning in it. they're just like my heart pump, my veins and arteries. and believe me, i will lay down my life for them, just them.
sometimes i just feel like 1) apologizing to them, especially my mum for shouting/screaming at her, making her cry.
2) spending more time with dad and knowing him more
3) telling my brother that he's the best brother
i don't ask for much, i just want them to be happy and safe. nothing more. (:
thanks mum, dad and bro. i love you.
love, your daughter/sister

There are four simple ways that parents can effectively make their love known to their children:
1. You have to tell your children that you love them every day. You can never say “I love you” to a child too often. Even if your child pretends that he or she doesn’t need to hear it, don’t believe it. Every time a child hears the words, “I love you” from his or her parent the child feels more secure and free to be himself or herself.
2. Tell your children you love them with eye contact. Whenever you look at a child with loving eye contact you make the child feel wonderful about himself or herself. Studies show that from the age of 6 weeks children are fascinated by looking into the eyes of someone who is looking at them with warmth, love and affection. Try this with your children and you’ll be amazed at the impact that sustained, loving eye contact has when you give it to your children if they haven’t experienced it before.
3. Physical contact is an important and powerful way to tell your children that you love them. Hugging and kissing your children is the most wonderful way to convey to them through touch that you love and value them. Interestingly, studies have shown male and female infants are hugged about the same amount during their first year, but after that females receive much more hugging and kissing from parents than do boys.
4. Focused attention is perhaps the most powerful way to tell a child that you love him or her. Focused attention is simply spending long stretches of unbroken time with your child. Children need an opportunity to talk with their parents, relate to them and just be with them while they’re growing-up. There is no better way to build a close and loving relationship with your child than to schedule long unbroken periods of time with your child during which you can just be together.

Five bodies found in Cambodia after boating accident By Hasnita A Majid, Channel NewsAsia | Posted: 25 November 2007 1318 hrs
PHNOM PENH: The bodies of all five Singaporeans were recovered from the Tonle Sap River in Cambodia's capital Phnom Penh on Sunday morning, following an accident involving a Singapore dragon boat team.
They have been identified as 20-year-old Chee Wei Cheng, 24-year-old Jeremy Goh Tze Xiong, 31-year-old Stephen Loh Soon Ann, 23-yold ear-old Reuben Kee En Rui and 27-year-Poh Boon San.
Their family members are presently in Cambodia.
The Foreign Affairs Ministry and Singapore's embassy in Cambodia will make the necessary arrangements for the repatriation of the bodies to Singapore.
The five men went missing after their boat capsized as it tried to dock on the Tonle Sap River after competing in a race during the water festival.
A holding area was set up outside the mortuary at the Calmette Hospital where the bodies were brought to.
Earlier, emotions ran high when family members went to identify the bodies.
The Singapore ambassador to Cambodia, Tan Yee Woan, and the president of the Dragonboat Association, Kwek Siew Jin, were on hand to render support to family members.
"We have provided facilities to try to help the families through this very trying time. I understand that they are in a very difficult situation. With the help of our ambassador here and the other embassy staff, together with support from many ministries back home, we will make all necessary travel arrangements," said Mr Kwek.
Deputy Secretary-General of Cambodia's National Disaster Management Team, Nhim Vanda, laid wreaths and offered prayers for the victims earlier in the day.
Cambodian Tourism Minister Thong Khon also came to render help to the families of the victims.
A representative from the Indonesian dragon boat team offered wreaths for the deceased as well. He said the Indonesian team was saddened by the accident and added that the dragon boat teams from various countries are actually one big family.
More than 200 Cambodian navy sailors and fishermen, joined by seven divers and a medic from Singapore, scoured the river over the weekend in search for the missing men.
The Singapore boat was carrying 22 men when it capsized. Seventeen Singaporeans were also injured in the accident, which happened on the first day of races.
These members are expected to fly home on Monday morning as scheduled.
Singapore's foreign ministry said in a statement that Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen had written to Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong to convey his "shock and sadness".

Among the guests at Raffles City Convention Centre was United Nations Special envoy Dr Ibrahim Gambari, who exchanged greetings with Myanmar's Prime Minister Thein Sein and Foreign Minister U Nyan Win.

and so much for the publicity of how ASEAN unites, PLEASE.... i helped out in the ASEAN chiefs of police conference (ASEANAPOL conference) in june and witnessed how hostile they (ASEAN commissioner police and their delegates) were towards one another and you can see how fast they changed when the media turned the attention to them. FINE, rahh! i settled the sponsorship though. the boss is nice to give us $200 cash for the event. (: and i thought, since i'm already out, maybe i should go for my shopping spree! ANW, does anyone know about the free shuttle bus service from bugis to kk hospital? OKAYS, for those who know nuts about this, there is free transportation from bugis mrt station to kk hospital. it's at the bus stop towards victoria street. (: SO, i mean we should commend kk hospital for providing such service! its really good, especially for pregnant mums heading to the hospital for check up. THEN, guessed what i saw! omg, there was like a very long queue for the shuttle bus! and 9 out of 10 people who queued are pregnant mums.
can you imagine, its such a hot weather and there are like trolleys filled with goods traveling here and there along the pathway, and the queue is in the midst of the pathway too! and what if its a rainy day? there isn't any shelter provided at all. AIYOH! i should have taken a photo of it! it really looks bad lar! and the bus comes at intervals of 25 minutes. so they have to queue(without seats) for 25 mins!? FAINT. they actually provide seats and shelter for the people who are queuing for the shuttle bus service from outram to SGH.

Sickened Kaka considers quitting Italy
AFP - Thursday, November 15
RIO DE JANEIRO, Nov 14, 2007 (AFP) - - AC Milan's Brazilian midfielder Kaka has admitted that he is considering quitting Italian football amid the increasing violence and scandals surrounding the sport in the country.
Kaka was speaking after the shooting dead of football supporter Gabriele Sandri, 28, by a policeman during a scuffle between rival fans at the weekend sparked violent clashes in several Italian cities, particularly Rome and Milan, leading to the suspension of matches.
The violence follows a match-fixing scandal which rocked the Serie A last season, and has left the 25-year-old, who is in the running for the World Football of the Year title, considering his future.
"It's not the first time that this has happened," said Kaka after training with the Brazilian team ahead of qualifiers for the 2010 World Cup here on Tuesday night.
"Last year there was a scandal in Italian football. There was also similar violence (to this year).
"Sport is a leisure which should be played with pleasure. When it's not like that you have to find alternatives."
Kaka, who is the highest earning footballer in Italy, added that it was not just up to the government to deal with the problem, but for players as well.
"I think that all players should act to find a solution as quickly as possible. This is something that goes beyond football. There is a social problem in the country and people are bringing this into the stadia."
kaka should quit and consider epl. best, join chelsea. (: hahaha.. and chelsea will have my ideal team with players like kaka, ballack, shevchenko, joe cole, ashley cole, john terry, drogba AND MY FAV FRANK LAMPARD!!!!! (: after jose mourinho left chelsea, i've stopped my chelsea fanatic.. not cuz i like JM, but i think chelsea owes it to him somehow. (:
kaka is my husband. hahaha.. i love him to the bits lar! oh man! and apparently today i listened to 987fm, they were saying that some article reported that christiano ronaldo is the best soccer player. PLS, i dislike him lar! so what he dribbles the ball like a peanut, i DUN LIKE HIM! (: kaka should be the best player larrr... did you see how he scored for AC milan last season! OMG. (:

OPEC says no need for oil output hike
AFP - Thursday, November 15
RIYADH (AFP) - - OPEC secretary general Abdallah al-Badri said on Wednesday that there is no need for the oil cartel to increase production now because there is plenty of oil in the market.
in that case, why is there a fuel oil shortage in china and subsequently leading to a oil PRICEhike instead? why then, did the black markets for fuel oil emerged in china? if you did see the situation over at china regardging this oil issue on CNA, you should know what i mean uh.
then again, if you think of how significant the role china plays in hurting our mother nature, you will definitely think that they deserve this uh. (:

so the mugging period is here. i'm getting myself focus on the revision instead of diverting my FULL attention to vaio and npcc, especially when campcraft competition is coming SOON, and yan bo is stressing me with how he's training his unit for the competition! ): i did some planning for the trainings, and sent email to my OC telling her abt the training days and getting my CIs involved in it! hahaha.. OKAYS, I PROMISED after this event i will stop my NPCC commitments! (:
i talked to my mum regarding some issues over the dinner while watching the serial drama @ channel 8. hahaha.. i mean, everyone knows how melodramatic those shows are, and apparently there's a scene about how this guy cheated on his wife and wanting to divorce her for another woman. and comes his dad, having a confrontation with the 3rd party and listing out the entire theories about the ideal relationships and marriages. i asked my mum this question then. 'do you think guys will be faithful even after marriages?' my mum kept quiet. not that my dad cheats on my mum, but i think she knows guys will never be faithful! but she doesn't want me to have this negative perception of guys, which unfortunately i have it already. (:
she further commented that once you're married, both parties need to work together to maintain this marriage, it is less on the feel but instead, its the cooperation. couples in relationships, on the other hand, though they need to cooperate, but the feel still exists. somehow i do believe in this, and stereotypically speaking, i think guys can't resist the temptations of the outside world, be it women or career. guys can just abandon their family all alone and strive for better career opportunities in overseas. Similarly, they sometimes do abandon their family for temptations like women. of cuz, i am generalizing. so disclaimer stated uh. (:
oh, i've my girl friends who volunteered to queue up donuts for me, except for onenicey guy friend of mine. thanks. (: okays, i need to plan out new schedules after exams. these are the pple whom i need to go out with after exams.
1) paul(donut buffet!) 2) fadzri(the coffee talk) 3) serene, abby, vic, kenny(if you guys still rem, we are supposed to go for mambo night to celebrate the end of our exams and our project) 4) dominic(not really go out, but to go HTA and meet him for the food) 5) ben(food feast) 6) and my dearie clique(guimei, vivi, nel, sebas; are we having our xmas dinner? ) 7)valerie(i shall go to her room and slp and our chit chat!)
errs, yah. that's it. (:

believe me.. i am sure the many of my friends are damn stressed, especially when exams are just around the corner and our project has yet to complete. SIGH. and we have no choice but to procrastinate our revision. i supposed to finish attention by today, but i only revised till perception I. this is bad lar, cuz this means that my revision is accumulating. ): save me.
and we thought, maybe self deceiving would be a great idea to make us feel better. so this is what vic suggested. (:
victoriavicvicvictoria says: can u stress me and tell me that ure studying a lot now LEEPIN and i'll run to you. says: i stopped studying lehs LEEPIN and i'll run to you. says: okokays LEEPIN and i'll run to you. says: i studied alot mans LEEPIN and i'll run to you. says: wlau LEEPIN and i'll run to you. says: i finished the entire of bio LEEPIN and i'll run to you. says: hahaha
if you realised, its the 3rd entry of the day. bahhh. ): going to sch and study is still better. SIGH. i've a nice guy friend who queued up to buy donuts for his gf. and he is not that kinda guys who will do such thing. the fact the he did this for his gf, i think hes a nice guy. (: applause.
so lets try out something, any guys willing to queue and buy donuts for me? hahaha..
enchanted seems to be a nice movie. (: i posted up the trailer. do watch it. it seems interesting, at least to me.

Fuel shortages
That has meant a growing gap between the soaring global price of crude oil and domestic fuel prices.
Consequently, Chinese oil companies are losing money and are reluctant to increase production, knowing that would lead to even higher losses.
Some petrol stations have already had to close
The result is fuel shortages across the country.
Large lines are a common sight outside many filling stations. Some have already shut down and tempers are rising.
State media reported that one man was killed in a fight after he tried to jump the queue at a petrol station in central China.
The government is hoping that higher prices will encourage oil refiners to boost output and reduce the fuel crisis.
But many companies may feel that the price hike is still not enough, especially if global oil prices continue to rise.
China is desperate for fuel. Russia lost its tons of fuel oil in an accident. (: environmentally speaking, the fuel oil is sinking down to the seabed. HMM, poor sea animals i must say. ):
on the other hand, economically speaking, oh well, fuel oil prices in Singapore increased too i think. ben spent like 60 over bucks on petrol on saturday. or is it normal uh? i admitted i'm a noob in this issue, so its just my deduction that oil prices in Singapore rises. (: i so much wanted to get a car after i try to attempt my driving maybe in a year's time, but after seeing how much i need to spend and maintain on a vehicle, i changed my mind. (: being a passenger is still the best uh.
i understand that i need to study, especially when exams is just err, 12 days time and i have no class today. HMM, the weather is simply too great to just rest and not do anything. 2ndly, i failed to resist the temptation of my dear vaio and the net connection. ):
okays, time to try to focus on my dear cognitive neuroscience text.

gawd, i know the photo is small, do click on the photo and take a look. see the 2 arrows that i've drawn?! the one on the extreme right(coloured yellow) is north korea! the one left to it(coloured green) is india! prof tong was talking abt it on fridae, and can you imagine this? even india, a less developed country, is so brightly lit up at night! what abt north korea at night?! its like totally dark!!!!!
i am just so interested in the ruling of north korea dominated by Kim Jong Il. he is worse than Saddam Hussein. anyone agrees with me? nod head. go and see the number of concentration camps Kim Jong Il set up and sending those who are against him to these camps! surprisingly, he does have alot of supporters from Pyongyang. i mean, Saddam Hussein is unpopular to many Iraqis and they were so desperate to overthrow him. But not in this situation in North Korea.
sheesh, is he really that powerful? i think so, being the world's leading proliferator of missile technology, transferring them to Iran and Syria and able to intimidate the world with its nuclear threats.
but i do pity the oppressed and impoverished North Koreans. poor people. ):
i should be grateful that i am living in Singapore uh. though kiasu, but at least its freed from these fears. (: yesh, true that we will be getting a fine/jail for advocating anti-govt issues, but its not to the extent of getting caught and throwing into concentration camps uh. (:
