Tears streaked her face like a frozen river, occasionally blurring her vision, making the little pin-points of street lighting twinkle like how she's always imagined stars in the sky should.
She brushes her tears away with the back of her hand and carries on with her solitary walk home, plugged into the warm, comforting sounds of Vonda Shepard.
Strangely enough, amidst the overwhelming sadness spilling over in the form of rivulets of tears, she detects a burgeoning sense of calm and carthasis.
She just needs to let go.
In time, she will.
Friends,
Take her hand, lead the way and tell her everything will be alright.
Am I living an illusion?
Wanting something I can't see
If I compromise, I'd be living lies
Pretending love's not meant to be
Cause I know my heart's worth saving
And I know that he'll be waiting
So I'll hold on and I'll stay strong 'till then
